Grand Knight’s Corner:
Happy New Year to all,
The Knight’s of Columbus Council here at St Rose had an exceptional past calendar year. Keeping with our Principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity, we were able to assist various community organizations; host a few Church events; and increase our membership. Thank you to the Knights that made this possible through your volunteerism. We were able to donate over $3700 and placed in over 500 man-hours of work. I (we) don’t brag about these things because we do it to exemplify and further our faith. But I needed to let you know that our Knights are doing wondrous work in the name of our Lord.
Also, thank you St Rose parishioners for your prayers and donations that enabled the Council to achieve these results. For without you, a lot of this wouldn’t have been possible. As an example, our pancake breakfast on December 18th brought in over $240 with your generosity.
Speaking of donations, a couple of the Knights will be participating in the Special Olympics Polar Plunge on February 4, 2023. So if you can pledge towards this event, it would be greatly appreciated by both the participants and the Special Olympics. More details will be in a near future Church Bulletin.
Another aspect of donation I would like to see happen is the increase of our Council’s membership, i.e. donating your time by becoming a Knight of our Council. We will be holding a membership drive the 5th weekend of this month. Please seriously consider joining. It is a great way of increasing your faith. Talk to a Knight.
But enough of the past, looking toward the future, here’s what’s scheduled:
Hosting the Rosary Program, the 5th weekend of the month
Holding a Delta Drive (membership drive) the 5th weekend of the month
Participating in the Special Olympics Polar Plunge on February 4th
Assisting with the Church / School Mardi Gras on February 18th
Assisting a pregnancy center in remodeling their office space
Starting up our famous Fish Fry every Friday during Lent (except Good Friday)
So in closing, again, Happy New Year and hope this year is even better than the last for you and your families, both personally and spiritually.
Jim Bedolla, Grand Knight of Council 10460
